Steak with mushrooms&sherry

Mushroom sauce goes well with the steak and of course home made mashed potatoes! Cook your potatoes for the mash whilst the steak is resting. Serve with the side salad or boiled vegies.


Ingredients

  • Olive Oil
  • scoop of butter
  • 2
    scotch fillet steaks
  • 2
    garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 200 Grams
    button mushrooms
  • 100 Millilitres
    dry sherry
  • 5
    large potatoes

Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes till they are tender.

  2. Melt a dash of oil and butter in the frying pan. Cook the steaks for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Remove from the pan, cover with foil and rest.

  3. Melt more butter in a pan, Add garlic and mushrooms and fry for a couple of minutes. Season with thyme. Add sherry, reduce heat , stir well and simmer till it is thickened slightly. Remove from the heat.

  4. Mash the potatoes by adding butter and a dash of milk.

  5. Top the steaks with mushrooms & sherry sauce and serve with mash and the side salad.
